Juliet Biggs has been involved for several years with creating and teaching porcelain art in her native country of Panama and in the United States.
Juliet is a multi-faceted artist who has worked in several different mediums for the past 25 years. These mediums and art activities have included but are not limited to conventional ceramics, sculptured porcelain figures, sculptured porcelain flowers, oil painting, water color painting, children’s book illustrations, magazine articles on making porcelain jewelry, teaching, video instructional tapes, antique doll restorations, porcelain doll design, and now most recently, ceramic and porcelain tile murals.
This wide ranging art experience allows her to draw from acquired talents in these many areas and enable her to create unique and interesting tile murals. Individual tiles range in size from 4 inches to 8 inches and are of porcelain or ceramic. Custom tile murals can be of any size according to the requirements of the customer.
Juliet has always sought to expand her horizons and personal experiences so that she can bring them into focus in her art. A couple of years ago she went on a three week trip to China with several of her local friends. They toured over 10,000 miles through China and a high point in their travels was the time spent in the Wolong Panda Preserve in southern China. After she returned from her trip, she made several water color paintings of Pandas and then later they became subjects for her tiles. Click here to view the pandas.
She has also toured southern Spain and while there became intrigued with the history of tile art in that region. Some of her tile designs may reflect cultural experiences she encountered while there.
